Katya Grokhovsky was born and raised in Ukraine, lives and works in NYC. She is an artist, educator and a Founding Director of The Immigrant Artist Biennial (TIAB). Grokhovsky has been awarded numerous residencies and fellowships including Sculpture Space, Stove Works, STAR Residency at Tiger Strikes Asteroid New York, The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts Studio Program, SVA MFA Art Practice AIR, Kickstarter Creator-in-Residence, Pratt Fine Arts AIR, Art and Law Fellowship, The Museum of Arts and Design Studio Program, Muhlenberg College Visiting AIR, BRICworkspace Residency, Ox-BOW School of Art Residency, Wassaic Artist Residency, Atlantic Center for the Arts, Studios at MASS MoCA, New American Fellowship, BRIC Media Arts Fellowship, VOX Populi AUX Curatorial Fellowship, Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts Visual Arts Fellowship AIR, NARS Fellowship AIR, Santa Fe Art Institute Residency, Watermill Center Residency, and more. 

She has been awarded the Brooklyn Arts Council Grants (2022, 2021, 2019), NYFA Fiscal Sponsorship, ArtSlant Prize, Asylum Arts Grant, Dame Joan Sutherland Fund, Australia Council for the Arts ArtStart Grant, NYFA Mentoring Program for Immigrant Artists, Chashama space to create grant, Freedman Traveling Scholarship for Emerging Artists, Australia and others. Grokhovsky has taught at CUNY, The City College of New York in the MFA Studio Art Department and serves as a Mentor at SVA MFA Art Practice program. She has been a visiting artist and lectured at CalArts, SVA, Hunter College, University of Virginia, SAIC, Muhlenberg College, Kutztown University, University of Central Florida, VCA, CAE, Latrobe College of Art and Design and more. Her work has been exhibited extensively nationally and internationally. Grokhovsky holds an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, a BFA from Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne University, Australia and a BA (Honors) in Fashion from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia.
